Big Skies
I'd been out and about doing some last minute shopping for Christmas and I decided to stop on the lay-by near The Travellers to see what sky I could capture from this relatively high vantage point. I think it has some advantages but I'm not sure it is better than Thurgoland, where Roper Lane intersects with the Huddersfield Road. It's a shame that the sky wasn't a bit more colourful as it had been on the previous two evenings. A friend needs some skies of her own as backdrops for some of her fighter jet photography and as she is not very mobile at the moment I'm looking for suitable places to photograph from.
One of the things I did get close to is this derelict building, which I've noticed before when driving but never got close to. Derelict buildings like this are very unusual in our area. We are far too close to some big cities and usually these kinds of building have been renovated and sold on for big sums of money. I'm guessing that money is not all that important to the farmer who owns this cottage.
My morning plans went slightly to pot as Robert delivered my logs and as Mervyn was not available when I phoned him I did the sorting and stacking in the log store myself.
