Summer in Chittering

The grass is dry in Chittering.
There’s been no rain for near a month.
The grass is dry in Chittering.
Summer’s finally come.

The kangaroos are hiding,
in shade beneath the trees.
Where’s there’s still a bit of greenery,
and the sun ain’t half as keen.

The joeys have all grown now,
they’re too big for the pouch.
Their heads pop back for a sup of milk,
when they tire of hopping about.

The grass is dry in Chittering,
soon for turning grey.
The grass is dry in Chittering,
soon to blow away.
