The sad sight of empty shop premises to let is countered by this illuminated Christmas present decoration, one of many creative and imaginative Christmas illuminations in St Albans.  In general the city is buzzing, and empty premises are relatively unusual here.  There always seems to be plenty of people out shopping or enjoying the place, with plenty of busy cafés, restaurants and bars plus street food stalls, the majority offering outdoor seating.

Will this all continue as the Omicron variant of Covid-19 continues to take a hold?
