Majestic

I set the alarm at the Riffelhaus, I didn’t want to miss the sunrise with the amazing view of all those 4000ers out of the window. Very difficult to pick a blip today, so many amazing photos, mainly of the Matterhorn. I do feel a bit sorry for Dent Blanche, Zinal Rothorn, Obergabelhorn etc, I probably haven’t given the attention they deserve.
The breakfast buffet at the hotel was amazing, the views from the dining room were superb, I kept having to nip outside to take photos as the sun hit the tops of the peaks.
We packed up, left our bags, and were out skiing by 9.15, heading straight down to Zermatt, on superb pistes, to get right up to the glacier paradise, at 3833m. What a superb new cable car, looking right into the Klein Matterhorn Glacier. We skied pretty much straight down to the Furg, 2300m, then stopped at Schwarzsee for the first drink of the day. We did the glacier again, the skied straight down to Föhri on the black, it was quite challenging, as in the shade, and lots of hard icy balls on the surface that you had to grate off!
We had a few more super runs at Riffelberg, in the sun, then a late lunch outside, bratwurst and rosti, a schumli pflumli, (coffee with plum schnapps and whipped cream). Went back to the hotel, we had to wait for 30mins to get the next train on the Gornergratbahn back to Zermatt. We were back home at 9, what an amazing 2 days it’s been, such a lovely present from my kids that I’ll never forget.
