Coreen Hills loop
I’d a walk today with some pals on the Coreen Hills just north of Alford. It was a lovely bright day with a marked temperature inversion : being warmer on the tops and freezing at a misty ground level.
Our high point was Lord Arthurs Hill (518m) . It derives its name from when Lord Arthur Forbes’s coffin was being carried over the hill for interment in a local churchyard. The bearers rested on the hill during a snowstorm. The coffin was rested near the current trig point.
