Doodlesack

The Dutch word is spelled 'doedelzak' = bagpipes!

We went to three 2nd-hand shops looking for a squarish dining table to replace our overlarge rectangular one, which we had purchased 22 years ago from AW's parents when we bought their house, and this was lying on one of the tables in the first shop.  I wonder who owned it.  My premise is that it was bought as a souvenir or display object and was sadly of no further use.  A real bagpipe player would never sell his instrument this way.  We didn't buy it.  We saw a suitably sized table in the first shop but it was too worn out, and a round table in the second shop that would have been really fab except for the huge burn mark almost in the middle, which AW said would be difficult to camouflage or repair.  The accompanying chairs were elegant, though, but of course we need to buy a table first before considering chairs.  In short, empty-handed except for this shot, but not discouraged as there are other shops to visit and what we have now is still good.

The usual day, busy and grey, grey and busy.  I'm not allowing myself to strain against the limited options as the Dutch hard lockdown starts tomorrow.  I can still go on the hunt on a sunny day but no meetings with anyone as a group of two is the maximum when one is outside.  As I've always gone alone, nothing difficult there.  Essential shops will be open and that's about it.  This situation is supposed to last till 14 January.  Just before that, the government will assess it again.
