Looking through the window

from our table in the Parkers Arms in Newton in Bowland, as featured recently on the Hairy Bikers Tour of the NW . 

Enjoyed having youngest and DiL stay overnight last night……we had fizz and G&Ts, felt a bit tipsy tbh, first time for a good while ;-)  They had pre requested Liver & bacon with onion gravy for dinner, as they both love it, but DiL cant bring herself to handle/cook it lol!  They really enjoyed it, as I did. We had it with mashed potatoes, sweetheart cabbage and carrots.  

We had a leisurely night just sat chatting and watching Strictly, so so glad that Rose won, they had me in tears!!! we then ended up watching the Full Monty, which we really enjoyed too!! 

Today we headed out earlyish to go for a pre 40th birthday treat, lunch at the Parkers Arms, N has become somewhat of a foodie over the years, and having seen this featured on tv, picked the venue when I said Id take them out for a birthday meal. 

So todays blip is a combination of our view from the table across the moors, complete with hanging mist, son with our sloe gin fizzes and DiL S, taking a photo of her birthday boy ;-)  The food was something else, S was beside herself when they said they had the mutton curry pie on the menu…….which is what she was so looking forward too lol!  We all thoroughly enjoyed our choices.  

Afterwards we sat in the bar area and waited for Ns dad and his partner who were meeting ip with us, they live near Harrogate, ( my first husband & my best friend B, who is also Ns godmother) not as weird as it sounds lol, we all go back 50 years…….and have remained good friends lol)  Christmas present exchange was achieved. B gave me a lovely white  poinsetta 

The drive home was interesting, some very foggy patches, some crystal clear blue skies. It was almost 5pm by the time we got back. 

Youngest & DiL got off home as soon as they had loaded heir car up…….I came in got changed, did a few things and made a brew, sat down to watch the news. Soon turned it off…….only just had something to eat, a cold platter, ham, cheese tomatoes coleslaw and a few tortilla chips, oh, and the last glass of red to finish off a bottle thats been open for two weeks! 

Have watched the Royal Variety show tonight, was entertaining……..feeling a little flat at the moment, think its just because ive been in company and now its all quiet again. 

Am tired, didnt sleep that well, went to bed at 11, woke, thinking i'd been asleep for ages, it was only 1.44……could tell Id had a drink, kept me awake until about 4,  then woke up again it was 8.10 so got up.
