On guard

Jess stands guard looking out to British Camp on the Malvern Hills. On an extraordinarily bright and beautiful blue sky day, with a bitter east wind racing in from the Urals, we walked from Wyche to British Camp with sharp gusts blasting around our ears as well as encouraging us southwards along the ridge. Jess's coat, ruffled and whipped by the wind, can be detected as she stares across to the Iron Age fort. After a bracing climb to the top of the Herefordshire Beacon, we dropped down to the Malvern Hills Hotel for lunch catching the sun in the lea of the hill.
