The sight of the cathedral after a trip away always makes me feel like I'm home - it is visible in the landscape from almost every direction and from whatever means of transport. Here is the view from Wharton Park, with sculpture The Way by Hamish Horsley. This was donated by British Rail to mark the thousandth anniversary of the arrival of the Community of St Cuthbert on the 'peninsula', which ultimately led to the existence of the City of Durham.
