Leicester was Empty
No wonder the hospitality industry is throwing its hands in the air. We went into Leicester this afternoon to see the lights and the display at the Town Hall. As you can tell from today's photo of Market Street, the streets were virtually empty.
The animatronic display featured Children's Books: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Thomas the Tank Engine, The Beatrix Potter books including Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny and Jemima Puddleduck, Alice in Wonderland notably the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, AND Wallace and Gromit. I would add the photo of Gromit as an extra but Blipfoto is refusing to upload it and is crashing the browser. Two browsers in fact, so the fault is at Blipfoto's end.
We adjourned to drink hot chocolate outside Caffè Nero, William's Mum having forbidden us to enter restaurants. Needless to say, it was empty. William was becoming visibly more distressed so it was time to go home. On reaching the car park across the road he burst into tears and said he wanted to go to sleep.
He cheered up once we got him into the warm at his house with his Mum to look after him. Grandma suggested he should wear a vest on cold days such as this.
