Too noisy mummy

He doesn't like loud noises, cheering, shouting banging. The little man with his hands over his ears is a regular sight but he didn't want to miss what was going on so he stares intently.

I keep trying to photograph different things but I can't help taking pictures of people, expressions, capturing the moment. I feel like a landscape is beautiful but without life in it the picture is empty...

I've joined a local camera club and they simply don't like portraits there, I lose each competition week to bits of dead wood, ducks and landscapes that I wouldn't go out of my way to stop and look at.
I need to up my game so tomorrow I'm going to hope for a dry day and take the little man to the farm, see if I can bring myself to take a good picture with no one in it!

Oh and I've just picked up a second hand Canon 5d mark 1, I hope I've made the right decision, I wish I knew someone who could take me under their wing and walk me through taking a picture, processing a picture, printing and then mounting it!
