Rhyolite patterns

We're just back from a couple of days staying at the base of the Onawe Peninsula, where we took our kayak to paddle around on Akaroa Harbour. This pic was taken on our first evening, as we walked along the peninsula to a historic Pa (Maori fort) site. The afternoon was brilliant weather, sunny, warm and calm. We paddled around the peninsula and over to French farm, escorted by several Hector's dolphins. A pair of gannets were fishing just off the end of the peninsula.
