Hibiscus

A late afternoon stroll through surprisingly empty streets. I’d hoped to find a dried native flower wreath for today, but even the usually reliable Lawrence and Belmont Streets offered only plastic European arrangements. And a Santa hanging from a balcony.

We had Christmas dinner tonight, takeaway from the local fine diner. It’s open as usual, but K reported only one couple and a solo diner at 7.30.

The rough plan had been an extended family gathering in Qld and, while the border recently opened, I’m glad we didn’t go. What with needing a negative PCR test within the previous 72 hrs, up to five-hour queues to get tested, delays in results and now cancelled flights due to airline staff isolating, a quiet Christmas is just fine.

Hope you have a good, if smaller than wished for, Christmas and a lovely weekend.
