Cold Stone

Don't you hate when you drive all the way to a place only to find out that it's closed? I was all set on swimming this morning, but after inhaling a bowl of cereal, driving 20 miles to the city, circling the block for a parking spot, tracking down a stranger to trade a dollar bill for four quarters, feeding the meter, and entering the Eckhart Park building, I saw a sign on the door to the pool that read, "Pool closed. Sorry."

Undaunted, I drove to another Chicago Park District pool that had the same adult lap swim hours, but there was not one open parking space in sight. After 20 minutes of driving around the neighborhood (and seeing a bunch of "permit only" signs), I gave up and drove home. Thanks a lot, Chicago, for wasting my time. Grrr.
