The plates

We have had the most wonderful family day. 

We were never sure whether it was a good idea to try to get together this year, whether it would be actually possible. But everyone was keen to have a go. Our daughter hosted and we all contributed to the meal. We had great food and much laughter. We opened presents, played games and were even treated to an excellent concert courtesy of the granddaughters.. 

My blip is the dining table, beautifully laid out. It was splendid to have all nine of us round one table, when it was never certain that this would happen.

My mother had this complete dining service. She had had it for many, many years and It always came out at Christmas when I was young, when our girls were young. When she moved house she gave the whole set to Clair, but as she was a student at the time, she didn’t really have much use for it. So we stored it. Now she has it and decided to use it today. It brought back memories for many of us.
