Merry Christmas
My phone rang at 6:00 am with my youngest daughter crying. She got her 3 day test back and is positive for COVID. She feels quite Sick. All the planning she put into the perfect family vacation in NYC, Boston, Providence, RI and Philadelphia was not to be. They packed up and headed home arriving around 3:30. By late afternoon, she was having breathing issues and is still at the emergency room of our hospital. They are running several tests; she is in the high risk category so we are very concerned. Poor kid! We got up at 6:30 (again) to make Christmas scones for my son’s family. We gathered at his home for breakfast at 8:00 and to watch the children open their gifts. My sister gave River this yellow truck. After that, he was done with more gifts. He pushed it around the house until we left. We went back home to reflect on the day and get updates as Kris and Chris drove home (her hubby was feeling rough also.) I’ve used this Nativity set for almost 50 years. Dinner at Kim’s was scheduled for 5:00 but we were in no rush so we ate at 6:30. Her hubby always makes us a delicious Christmas meal. This year it was his famous coffee pork chops. My sister and BIL took Momma home so we could watch the family open their stocking gifts from us, always a Christmas highlight, they are each like little kids. We came home, plopped on the recliners with the kitties. What a bittersweet day. So hoping Kristen has the new variant and they will get through this nightmare quickly and fully. Stay safe folks. My wish for each of you is that you had a wonderful day and that this week will bring you rest, good health and countless blessings. “We are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmastime.” Laura Ingalls Wilder
