Learning day by day

Santa's been!

Well the elves seemed to break the loop on Carys's stocking as it was found lying in the floor outside her bedroom door, but it is 15 Christmases old now.

Stocking opening in bed as is the tradition. Good job we have a king sized bed. Goodness knows what we will do when Will actually starts to grow! Stocking gifts went down well, half a rugby ball for Will, odour eaters for ballet shoes for Carys were amongst them. Who knew you could get half a rugby ball? Certainly not me.

Normal breakfast, because my slow Covid brain forgot to order anything nice in the Tesco shop. The idea of a walk was abandoned, so we got ready for the day (a lot slower than Will liked as all he wanted to do was go into the front room, he was so excited, like a 7year old!).

Parcels divided up, oven on. Slow and steady opening of gifts. Both kids seemed very happy with their presents. Will had things like a hockey stick, blue tooth headphones and a voucher for his own wetsuit come warmer weather. Carys received a ticket to ALW Cinderella (although the original one for 11th January was cancelled due to Covid and put me in quite a tail spin, this is for May so should be ok!) from Grandad, a Garmin watch and vouchers for massage and to have her nails done.

Lunch/dinner was sometime around 3pm. After that Covid fatigue hit and neither Jim and I were good for anything. So Strictly followed by The Wheel and then kids entertained themselves.

I did wonder if this year didn't quite live up to previous Christmases, but Carys in particular said she had had a fabulous day. I think being just the four of us allowed us all to relax and do what we wanted when we wanted and not worry about entertaining or being the host.
