Free Chips!

Not much done today… though a text first thing informed us that one of our visitors from yesterday has tested positive for COVID. We’ll wait till their PCR test confirms it - we’re both clear on the lateral flows, but they’re not infallible, of course.

Archie and I went out for a couple of walks. In the afternoon we happened to pass the local chippie, where Archie always gets a treat. I got one as well this time - a big box of free chips. They’d over-ordered and are taking ten days holiday, and so were giving them away instead of chucking them out.

Archie and I sat on the bench to eat the chips, and I told everyone who passed by of the freeby. Most folk said they’d eaten too much already, but one chap and a boy came back down with their chips and thanked me profusely for the tip.

We then walked up the lane and round the graveyard and when I came home again, we watched ‘The Piano’. Haven’t seen that for 25 years or so, when it was released. Enjoyed it very much, it was lovely to hear the native NZ birds in the bush. But neither of us had remembered the ending, which was shocking. (The ending was shocking, not the fact that we hadn’t remembered it).

The jingle-bell collar has been put away for another year. Archie seems pleased.
