Boxing Day/Feast of Stephen
A relaxing day at home. Books to read, a bit of technology to get working, meals to prepare. I often feel guilty about just relaxing, but have decided to go with it this festive season.
So it is our resident robin again.
Drawing a robin involves starting with a circle, with a not too long tail and a head with no neck. The wings look short, although they can fly some distance.. And I recall a bird artist explaining that when people are asked to draw this familiar bird from memory they usually place the red far too low down. The “redbreast” is actually red on the face and chest. And more a cool orange than red, which people can also miss. Even with the familiar, it’s good to look as well as to see.
