CAR PARK FULL!
Yesterday didn't stop raining, so I guessed that twice as many people would go for the traditional 'Boxing Day Walk' today. It does seem that many people who never walk at all during the year go out on Boxing Day. Just as the media tells them to eat turkey and sprouts and drink too much on Christmas Day, even the weather forecaster tells them they can go out and walk off the excess food on Boxing Day!
There were a couple of 'big events' such as the Boxing Day swims going on in several places nearby, so I thought my favourite local beach would be quiet. I should have gone first thing in the morning but it was high tide and there wouldn't be much beach to walk on. Arriving at 'peak' time of 2.30, people were queuing for car park spaces! I've not seen it that full since the last August Bank Holiday. Some were obviously tourists because of the telltale rooftop boxes on their cars. I sneaked away to the cycle hire place which was closed, so had some parking - many others had had the same idea and I got the last space there! The largest part of the beach was closed as usual because the owners lock the gated access, so the small beach was quite busy. Although before you get to the beach is a large pub garden area, and every table was occupied! It was difficult today to get a photo without any unwanted people in!
A couple of swimmers went in (not wearing wetsuits!) and actually SWAM, rather than run into the water and straight out again as the Boxing Day swimmers seem to do. I was amused to see their anxious dog hovering by the edge of the water and he looked so pleased to see them when they came back out! If I was a 'member' I would put those pics in extras.
Lots of showers are again forecast for the rest of the week, but if its dry enough to go to the beach again I hope it won't be so busy!
Update - my horizon isn't straight! Tried to change the photo by dragging a different one from iCloud but Blipfoto won't let me! So I'm stuck with a wonky horizon.
