It is almost 12 months since my last horse blip, taken on the day of the 2012 Grand National, so I thought this would be the one for today.

I also noticed the two poles carrying telephone wires - almost obsolete on this 40th anniversary of the mobile phone. It is astonishing how mobiles have become such an integral part of our lives, to the extent that we no longer talk about how wonderful they are but about how often they let us down. Usually, I find if one thing goes wrong, some other fault soon follows.

Or, as they say in Yorkshire: "When t'door creaks, t'roof leaks."
