Old wall

Old walls surround Chiswick House grounds.
D talked with Mike this morning; he sent pictures of his very steep terraced garden. The rather formal beds are bordered with artificial grass because Yoshiko finds the real stuff too slippery to walk on. Of course it’s very wintery now, but they haven’t had as much snow as in other parts of Japan.
I finished Dickens’ The Chimes; it’s not a patch on The Christmas Carol but is a powerful portrait of inequality.
