Warlukurlangu gift

Our great friend, J, gave us a wonderful gift for Christmas - a set of four melamine plates with a design by Warlukurlangu Artists. They match perfectly our placemats we use when eating outside in our courtyard. This evening we are going to share a bottle of champagne and nibblies with two neighbours and we are going to use our lovely plates for the first time. Thank you J.

The Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit organisation that is 100% Aboriginal owned by its artists from the remote desert communities of Yuendumu and Nyirripi in Central Australia.

Warlukurlangu Artists is famous for its gloriously colourful acrylic paintings and limited edition prints. The art centre has a national and international profile and its art has been featured in hundreds of exhibitions and publications in Australia and around the world. Royalties from the sale of products directly benefit the artists and their communities.

Warlukurlangu means 'belonging to fire' in the local language, Warlpiri, and is named for a fire dreaming site west of Yuendumu.
