Snowbird
Dark-eyed juncos are commonly referred to as "snowbirds" in the northeast because they winter here after breeding further north. Every fall, like clockwork, they show up, staying until spring when they head north. There are 5 subspecies "groups" of juncos, for a total of 15 subspecies. Here in our area, we only have the Slate-colored spubpecies (Junco hyemalis hyemalis). Anyhooo, there are lots of them around now, so this was an easy photo today.
Jax has been a good boy today, with a nice mix of playtime and naps, along with a nice walk in the park. On the walk, he got to meet a couple of other dogs which is always fun for him. I'm so thankful he is such a sweet-natured dog. He is laying just outside my office door right now, where he can watch me and the cats, and hear Hubs downstairs.
Vacuuming was on my to do list today - it didn't get done. Maybe tomorrow. Jax demonstrated his skills as a Weapon of Mass Destruction by obliterating a stuffed toy in under an hour this morning, leaving bits of toy scattered around the dining room. Happily he is content to destroy, but not to eat the toys. Hey, find the upsides wherever you can!
Hubs and I ate a wonderful concoction that my parents gave us for Christmas - dark chocolate, caramel, crunchy coconut - I don't even want to consider the caloric implications.
Stay safe!
