Not a Creature Was Stirring…
…except the kitty cat. Cloudy with periods of rain. High of 51 deg F. Another day to sleep in. Hubby has used the recliner the last two nights due to coughing and post nasal drip/sore throat. Just to be safe, we decided he should get a COVID test because his symptoms were getting worse. What a challenge. First appt available with his doc is 21 Jan!! The county urgent care and testing facilities were booked solid. First test he could find was Monday. Our health dept told him to go to the baseball stadium in the neighboring county. By the time he got there, they’d run out of tests. Mean time, the local VA office called for him to pick up his repaired hearing aids. They have a contract with an urgent care office and when he told them his symptoms, they sent him there as a VA patient so he was seen. He got a negative reading on the rapid COVID test but they sent one away to the lab. They prescribed cold meds and we wait three days for test results. He started this process at 8:30 am. He got back home at 3:00 pm. When he left, I started looking for places with available appt slots so much of my day was also spent on that process. Glad I suggested asking at the VA office. We are expecting a heavy rain storm so my son (who’s on vacation) asked me to clear his drainage lines of leaves. He has such a problem with having rainwater ruin his basement. My daughter still feels sick. Her hubby’s fever finally broke today. On a happy note, I spent a few hours reading and dinner is all prepared so I can read more before bed. We collected these musical stuffed toys when the grands were young. They couldn’t wait to visit and turn them all on simultaneously. This year, my silly SIL did the honors. We had removed many of the batteries much to his chagrin. We leave up all decorations until the Feast of the Epiphany. Many are snowmen and they stay out until spring. It keeps things inside festive while the weather and landscape is gloomy. Thanks for the visit. Stay safe folks. We had 131 new cases in our county; almost 11,000 in our state in the last 24 hours. Yikes! “I love Christmas, not just because of the presents but because of all the decorations and lights and the warmth of the season.” - Ashley Tisdale
