Painted Postcards
A few months into Covid, I knew I had to find someway of sending encouraging messages to friends who live close and who live far away. I love to paint, so painting postcards was going to be my thing. I started by making gelli prints and then painting a design over them. I must have painted over 100 postcards during the year. I took a break from painting postcards when I decided I wanted to paint furniture. But this Christmas I remembered painting Christmas cards and really enjoyed it. So I started painting my old church building for some of my oldest and dearest friends. I was off to a great start, but the more I looked at them I didn't think they were good enough and I still had more to paint and so much other stuff to get done. That is why they still look just like this. I may get them out again and finish them up. They don't have to be for Christmas. You see, this church is where we all met. We raised our kids together here in this church. The senior pastor married us, he baptized us, and we still see him almost every week. His son is our senior pastor now. What an incredible family. I have known this family since the first Sunday they came to Calvary. I was only about 7 years old, so over 60 years ago. Isn't it amazing to think of the memories while looking at a building that stood on the same corner since 1927. My grandma went there, my mom went there, I went there, both of my sons went there, and my grandkids have gone there when they have been visiting. That is 5 generations being fed the Word of God at this simple, quaint building. I guess, I'll try to finish up those postcards.
