As usual, I am the member of drawing office staff on duty between Xmas and New Year. That’s fine by me, it suits me down to the ground. A month ago I asked the Director-in-charge-of-whether-or-not-the-office-will-be-open-over-Xmas whether or not the office would be open, and he told me Yes! Definitely.
I explained to him that the reason I needed to know was because if I was going to have to work from home, I would rather do so at my mum’s than in my studio in Chatham.

And then of course they changed their minds and so I’m not in the office and I am still at my mum’s. We’ve been watching loads of TV and not going out and not taking photos and not blipping. We’ve also had visitors and done a spot of visiting. I have also been talking with letting agents and removals firms, and arranging the logistics of my final days in Chatham including farewells.

Yesterday and today of course I have been working, and have been seated at a table in front of a huge sliding glass door overlooking mum’s garden and I’m getting rather distracted. There are three squirrels and a magpie who all hang around most of the time, and a ginger cat some of the time when the first three are not around, and occasionally a tabby scuttles by trying not to be noticed by anyone. But mostly it’s the squirrels.
