The best stick in the woods
Here is Jack with his stick. He does look pleased with himself. At times, he tried to carry it by holding one end in his mouth, but that just did not work!
I went for a walk in Acomb woods. First I met two men (whose wives, deep in conversation, had passed me a couple of minutes ahead of them). One man was interested in my front pouch for the camera and we were soon deep in kit conversation. I could see the other's eyes glazing over!
They were down from Scotland, but since they did not plan to socialise with the masses on New Year's Eve, I don't think anyone would mind. We won't tell Nicola.
Then I met a chap from the village. He, like me, was overdressed. It was 14 degrees C as I travelled home. Very unseasonable, but a lovely day. He warned me that the weather would change later. I parted with a "Happy New Year"!
Later I saw a family with two teenagers, enjoying the woods. At the Meeting of the Waters there was no beach and the water was high.
Finally, I met the Turner family with Jack. Bob is in our Photo Group. Jack is a senior dog who is confident in his abilities!!
Nearly forgot - a Mum with two small girls entered the woods as I left. The girls each clutched a soft toy. Although they told me the names of these precious items, I did not recognise them. I fully realise that I am out of touch with children's playthings. When I was at work, I was fully briefed and able to converse about whichever ghastly figure was being favoured!!
We are still catching up with University Challenge and saw the first semi final today. Miles Jupp in the final - just goes to show that studying Divinity must have done some good.
The extra was taken at the reed beds where local mine water is purified.
Mum has had a rough day with various places that hurt, especially her right eye. It's exhausting when you are in pain.
