One life to live

Frauen

Today I met my artist friends at Sara Hildén Art Museum and saw an interesting exhibition of Thomas Schütte. He is one of today's most significant sculptors and Sara Hildén Art Museum had a privilege to have Schütte's first private exhibition in the Nordic countries.

In the picture there is a part of a sculpture from Frauen series - there is altogether 18 different larger-than-life female figures in the Frauen series - cast in steel, bronze and aluminum. Schütte takes the nude female body as his subject contorting the classical sculptural forms into violently twisted postures with amputated limbs. Exhibition includes also Schütte's small ceramic figurines and watercolours.

Afterwards we had a dinner at Stefan's Steakhouse.
