Fire

Today was my youngest’s 30th birthday — a memorable occasion under any circumstance.

But it’s been made more so (though not better so) by a set of massive wildfires that have forced the evacuation of her town, outside of Boulder, Colorado. The fires were caused by power lines downed by winds in excess of 110 mph and the winds continue to fuel the fires. Since this started at midday, over 600 homes have already been destroyed…

My daughter and husband’s apartment is in the line of the advancing fires and there is a real risk they will lose everything. She is safely here with us and her husband who had left a couple of days ago, was able to quickly get their cat, laptops and some essential papers before being forced to evacuate.

This is very stressful — esp after everything that already happened to them this year. Sigh…
