Hastings La Vista Baby!

Today we decided to make our last visit to the coast for this year and settled on Hastings.
The weather was still rubbish - still gloomy, still windy and still wet. We had a really easy journey down there with very little traffic and were quite surprised, but heartened, to find the car parks full, a lot of people out walking in the inclement weather and that even the crazy golf course was fully subscribed!
We headed straight to the Dolphin Inn near the beach for a pint and some lunch and then ventured back out into the maelstrom (maybe I'm laying this on a bit thick) to get some images.
My main image is of a catamaran fishing vessel with its double hulls. I crouched down to use it as a framing device and waited for someone to come into frame but after several minutes no-one had appeared so I had to resort to asking my brother to make his presence felt. It was his decision to go for the Bruce Forsyth pose!
My first extra is part of a small photographic exhibition where images of local fisherman have been affixed to the side of some of the iconic wooden fishing huts. I liked the combination of the fisherman's craggy features, the wooden slats of the hut and the edge of a nearby road mirror.
The final extra is of part of one of the fishing boats on the beach itself. I noticed that if I adopted the correct position I could capture the Union Jack flag fluttering through the gap in the vessel's bow.
After a visit to the Hastings Contemporary art gallery it was time to head home, exhilarated but somewhat windswept!
