Beguiling
Described as beguiling and venerable, I felt compelled to visit Angoche, a coastal town further south. Before leaving Ilha I soaked up more of its splendour on a morning walk.
One tyre blow out, six hours and various stops for the driver to deliver cassava later, I arrived in Angoche. I had time for a brief stroll before the sun set, and I anticipated an interesting walk the following morning to see more of Angoche’s history.
Accommodation in district towns in Mozambique is very hit and miss. I’m paying around 55 dollars for a night in the only option in town and there’s only a bucket shower. In other places you can find cheaper options that have good facilities. There’s also a lot of ambient noise and yelling by the proprietor for a hotel where I may be the only guest. However I’m chuffed to have made it to Angoche and we’ll see what the rest of the stay brings.
