Fool’s gold

These bright mahonia flowers are part of a council flowerbed not far from our house.
They’re good for attracting winter-active bumblebees, so I was pleased to hear a quiet humming, and spent some time looking for the elusive bees.
It took quite a while to realise that the noise was actually coming from the boiler outlet of the house beside the flowerbed.
