These signal or function generators must date from the mid 1980's, as I'm sure I used them when I was a Student! There are more of them, and despite having several other newer and some even older types, they're probably our most used. Small light and fairly simple. Perhaps I've been too effective at repairing, patching, and modifying them over the years - note the replaced mains switch on the lower one, as the original part wasn't obtainable.
We have a lot of similarly ancient kit that (mostly) still works as it should. Could do with some newer things, but I suspect many of them won't last anything like as long, or won't be repairable due to a lack of the specialist components.
Hope the fancy one I have at home lasts okay. At least the user will try to use it carefully and look after it, whereas the above do have a hard life in inexperienced hands.
