NYE 2021
Well, I can't think of a much better day to finish off the year.
In the morning we drove up to The Swinside Inn, which is very ably run by the Minx's brother, Ben, of whom I'm very fond: such a lovely guy. We had a drink and a catch up with him and then drove back home though Grasmere, Ambleside, and Windermere, which was quite spectacular, even on an overcast day like today.
Incidentally, my photo today is of the beautiful view from the Swinside's beer garden. Can there be a better one anywhere?
In the afternoon, I met for a couple of beers with my very good friend Bob who is up in Kirkby Lonsdale with his family for New Year's Eve. We had such a great time - I never tire of his company - and he was accompanied by his son, Danny, and his friend, Jake, who were both charming.
And then, in the evening, the Minx and I had dinner at Number 9. Although she was, I think, a little cheated by the irregular return of her sense of taste, we still had a lovely evening. She also made for a beautiful view (see Extra) and I never tire of her company, either.
(There was the option of staying at Number 9 until midnight but neither of us feel particularly strongly about seeing the new year in.)
