Who was she...

Who was she, this woman who in her daily round in 1867 stopped for a moment to ponder? Only seven miles from the centre of Paris, and yet this small community of Ville d'Avray is quiet and peaceful. So much so that it became a favourite place of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.

This is only a print (how sad) and only a detail from the image. But it represents one of my favourite periods of Art, and has hung on my wall for years.
