Giants and the crescent moon
Wind turbines in the snow at Sweethope Lough Wind Farm, near Otterburn. If you look carefully, you can see the setting crescent moon.
A late start and lots of coffee after a disturbed night's sleep.
The wind was howling around last night when we went to bed, and though all the windows were shut a draft from somewhere was making the bedroom door bang. Eventually got out of bed and jammed it shut with my boots, the nearest things to hand. Had just about dropped off to sleep when the radio turned itself on. Nope, not 7.15am, when it should come on, but 1.00am. Eh? 'God Save the Queen was playing. Has the Queen died? MrM and I both listened but no, apparently not. Got out of bed again, and turned off the radio. (We discovered this morning that it came on after a brief power cut!) No sooner had we drifted off to sleep than we were woken once more by a loud crash on the street - a wheelie bin had blown over in the wind and was scraping down the pavement on the hill. After that, sleep didn't come so easily - heard the church bell strike 4 before dropping in to a deep sleep!
Maybe not surprising that MrM didn't feel like working on the bedroom today, or anything else for that matter, and suggested going for 'a drive'. We did, through the Borders and then down through Kielder, and home via Amble and Alnwick. Some fabulous views on a cold, frosty afternoon, and a glorious sunset.
