Gariep Dam overflowing

The Gariep Dam is overflowing for the second time in this rain season. No doubt farmers are jubilant for this much needed rain, but there are still places that are drought stricken.

Although we live in a  country of contrasts; we remain thankful for the lovely sunshine, the excellent weather, and the occasional rainy seasons when almost all of the country can celebrate.

Our farmers are hugely dependant on good rainfall, without which no crops are possible.
The past few years have seen many farmers abandon their farms, but there have also been much goodwill shown by prosperous famers who donated cattle feed, seed, financial assistance and whatever may be needed to these disaster areas.

It is doubtful whether (any timely and meaningful) financial aid is provided by the government.
