12th Night
The last of the Christmas treats but I might save them until Candlemas ( Feb 2nd). This was the date when Christmas decorations used to be taken down as a poem by Robert Herrick (1591-1674) reminds us;
‘At Candlemas
Down with the rosemary, and so
Down with the bays and mistletoe,
Down with the holly, ivy all
Wherewith ye dressed the Christmas Hall’.
