The Colston 4 - the four people who were prosecuted for pulling down the statue of slave-trader Edward Colston in Bristol in May 2020 - were acquitted today.
I'm feeling slightly weepy. (Well, actually, quite a lot.)
If you're interested in how history is made there's a recording of the press conference after the acquittal on YouTube involving one defendant, the defendants' lawyer and two local politicians. It's measured and thoughtful about what has happened and what should happen next. It's an hour long but worth watching for as many minutes as you can spare.
After the recent XR acquittals I think we now need to brace ourselves for an attack on the jury system.
