What A Mess
Cloudy with periods of sun. High of 46 deg F. We are under another winter weather advisory for tonight and tomorrow morning. Depending on the news source, we could get between three and five inches of snow. Spent a little time with housework but not much needed. After feeding the birds, I walked around our property to check tree/shrubbery damage. It was really hard to get good pictures of the mess made by that falling pine. It is the only pine tree we have and I am responsible for it not being removed sooner. Having lived in “Piney Point” from age six through 18, that tree had a soft spot in my heart. Unfortunately, branches only grew out of one side of the trunk, towards our garden. The heavy wet snow toppled it. It looks like a solid limb was driven into the ground next to my bell pole and prevented the tree from falling on the fence. I think the shrubs in the front left corner of the garden may have sustained damage from one of the heavier branches. Hopefully, my son and a few others can help us remove the mess soon. We made homemade mini pizzas for lunch. Hubby spent the afternoon unraveling a robbery at church which included a check he’d left in our sacristy for one of our seminarians. It was found in a rental home that was being cleaned out. Turns out, he saw the perpetrators in the sanctuary the night he was there for a Knights’ event. At the time, he thought they were two homeless guys sitting in there to warm up. How brazen they were since it sounds like they stole stuff more than once. I am just thankful that they weren’t armed robbers that hubby caught in the act. Never a dull moment in life. Dinner is ready so another easy night. Sounds like those who had COVID in our family are getting better if not already well. Great news. But our area is still seeing high infection rates climbing every day. Stay safe out there. Thanks for your stars and kind comments yesterday. “You can live years next door to a big pine tree, honored to have so venerable a neighbor, even when it sheds needles all over your flowers or wakes you, dropping big cones onto your deck at still of night.” - Denise Levertov
