Disappointment

This is not what I wanted to blip today. I found something called the Winter Bee House in Pevsner's Buildings of England, "a rare treasure" which was not far from where I had to be today. According to the book the low base storey was for pigs and fowl, providing a certain amount of warmth for the bees. The upper room...has two rows of eight recesses for the bee skeps. The bees would have been taken up to the heather in summer. How cool is that? What the book failed to mention was that it is in someone's front garden so no chance of a decent photo.

So you've got another canal shot instead.
