Still, the solitary brown rat we'd seen on many an occasion had clearly had a good midwinter, because now he is five! A clump of rat that was quite adequately defending a feeding spot from any brave duck who ventured near.

Apparently, according to the Attorney General, the acquittal of the Colston Four is "causing confusion", and she is considering lodging an appeal to have matters made "clearer" in future. This can only be a bad thing. 

If only all the rats were in nature reserves...
