We ventured into York to pick up some bits & pieces … and we found it strangely subdued. Not so many people, not so much hustle and bustle and not the usual noisy hubbub we normally find. I guess it’s a mixture of covid-misery and new year blues.

And it’s Distaff Day.
The distaff was the medieval symbol of household work. In some traditions women resumed their work after the twelve days of Christmas. Men had their own day, Plough Monday, the first Monday after Epiphany when men are supposed to get back to work.
