Marble Arch Mound
Today I visited the Marble Arch Mound - an example of London Exceptionalism - no expense spared on heap of scaffolding covered in earth (I think we would all agree that £6 million could be put to better use in more deserving parts of the UK).
The Marble Arch Mound opened in July 2021 and comprised a man-made structure (22.5 metres high) covered in grass with a staircase to the top where the public could experience views of Hyde Park and the surrounding area.
It was initially set up as a fee paying attraction with a cost of £8 per adult but extreme public dissatisfaction resulted in the fee being abandoned and it has been free since after the first month. The budget cost of creation of the event was £3.3m but the final cost was around £6m
The Mound is due to close on 9th January 2022 and may take some four months to remove.
I have added a few shots of the views from the top see Extra Photos
