Better to receive than to give?

Today I swapped presents with two sets of friends, as we hadn’t been able to see them over the holidays. I was totally overwhelmed at the lovely gifts I received, all linked to my new teaching role. Very unexpected, especially as we all usually just give each other quite silly things, but much appreciated!

One of my friends’ husbands got something called a ‘velvetiser’ for Christmas - a fancy term for ‘hot chocolate maker’ - so although I would have been happy with just a coffee, I got to choose from this selection. Well, would have been rude not to!
