Post-Christmas present

Nik - Richard's eldest son, settled in New Zealand since 2010 - bought us a gift booking at a local restaurant for Christmas, and this was the night. Not just any restaurant, but The Old Vicarage at Ridgway, just outside Sheffield, which has had a Michelin star in the past.  This was one of those tasting menus, with a sequence of gorgeous small dishes and wines to match. It all looked and tasted wonderful.  There's a small example (one of the two desserts) in the extra.
We felt thoroughly pampered, it was a lovely evening.
Although we have a weekly online video chat with Nik, it's many years now since we've seen each other in person. Richard has made three visits to NZ, but Nik hasn't been back here since 2013.  He's keen to visit, if and when Covid fades away sufficiently. Fingers crossed.
