Know thy self

After a day learning psychoanalytics our class went to the nearby village of Barbizon, famous for its school of painters in 1850s as part of a movement towards realism in art in reaction to the more formalized romantic movement.

Walking down the street I stopped to photograph this sculpture. It reminds me of Plato's cave as a clinical paradigm. Twenty four centuries ago he alluded to this twilight zone between reality and fantasy in his fables of prisoners in a cave. This trip has made me see for a first time that reality is indeed an illusion.
