Outside the Minerals Council

We were taking a fairly straightforward route to a chosen restaurant today but found it completely blocked and the only solution was to go through the Joburg CBD.

It's not an area we enjoy going through, with throngs of people and endless piles of rubbish everywhere. But this section has been cleaned up and was looking good which was a nice surprise. I am guessing it's the mining houses who still own a good percentage of the area. My old office down town is just two blocks away but I don't remember seeing this statue before. We need to go exploring to see what else has changed.
