Its Beautiful Due
No interesting facts or fiction for the MonoMonday challenge, but at least it's a mono... a weather vane on an abandoned warehouse in Reguengos, liked the quarter sun on it, and the two birds. I'd wandered up the road while Mike was talking to the glazier about cutting some glass and getting it toughened, for two windows he's hoping to get done for our soon-coming visitors.
Liked this quote from an article by David Baddiel, talking about John Updike, who said, "the job of art is to give the mundane its beautiful due" - that if you are a good enough writer, your prose can make everything, even the most microscopic and ordinary things in life, rich and strange.
Now translate that to photography.
Three quotes I am grateful for:
- Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. GK Chesterton
- We are not made rich by what we possess, but by what we can do without. Kant (maybe)
- I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. Gandalf to Galadriel on why he'd chosen a hobbit, in Lord of the Rings
